The Hanna Sisters
The Hanna Sisters have finally settled on a second single release from their critically acclaimed, soon to be released new album “About Time”. “Hotline to your soul” will be the A track with “Starin’ at me” the B side. With a release date of 29th January and the single available exclusively from their own website www.thehannasisters.net the Armagh sisters are hopeful that the new single is as well received as their October release “Princes Port”.
The tracks continue the pop theme prevalent throughout the album but the girls traditional roots are evident in the instrumentation and overall feel of the numbers. “Hotline to your soul” is (as the name suggests ) a more soulful and reflective number. “Starin’ at me” is a much more jaunty song and its not long before you’re drawn into the chorus.
For me the highlight as always with The Hanna Sisters is the simplicity and purity of the vocal harmonies, qualities no doubt honed over many years of playing and singing together. The quality of the production and backing musicianship is easily understood when you take the time to read the sleeve notes and see a who’s who of Irish musicians.
February sees the girls taking to the road and first stop is Scandinavia where they have built up a strong following over six years of playing to sold out theatres in the winter and the festival circuit in the summer.
“I think we’re particularly looking forward to this tour as we’ve almost grown up musically with the people over there. They have a great appreciation of music and are already e-mailing their approval on the tasters we’ve left as downloads on the website.”
says Breige.
“We’re looking forward to catching up with old friends and maybe meeting some new ones who are coming to our music for the first time”
Late February sees the start of their Irish gigs which continue throughout March, details are below. Tickets are moving quickly and all those interested in catching the girls in their area are urged to book early to avoid disappointment.
